Chiropractic Marketing Strategies
I get asked all the time what is the best online marketing strategies for chiropractors? It can be a complicated question because all online marketing requires regular monitoring, modification and detailed analytics. In addition certain strategies may work better in some markets than others.
For instance Facebook ads may be extremely effective in one area but not as effective in other areas. Or search engine optimization may be key in one area but not as effective in another area. And the list goes on and on. As I have said over and over on this blog the most important part of an online marketing strategy is for it to be as comprehensive as possible. You want your practice to be everywhere online.
But that being said here are 6 online marketing strategies that we have found to be extremely important in nearly all markets.
Online Marketing Strategies for Chiropractors
Getting reviews for your practice on Google, yelp, Citysearch and other sites is an important part of establishing trust, credibility and likability online. Your reputation is extremely important when it comes to online marketing. We have written detailed articles about which review sites to target, how to get reviews and more.
Here are just a few of the articles:

Without This Your Online Marketing Won’t Work (Usually)
If you have no reviews online I would start with Google. Google controls search results and that’s a good place to start building your online reputation.
Facebook is an extremely powerful social media medium.
- Worldwide, there are over 1.39 billion monthly active Facebook users (MAUs) which is a 13 percent increase year over year. (Source: Facebook as of 1/28/15) What this means for you: In case you had any lingering doubts, statistically, Facebook is too big to ignore.
- In every market that I have ran a Facebook advertising campaign there has been at least 100,000 people within a 10 mile radius of their practice who are within the target demographic and are currently on Facebook.
- 890 million people log onto Facebook daily (DAU) for December 2014, which represents a 18% increase year over year (Source: Facebook as 1/28/15) The Implication: A huge and vastly growing number of Facebook users are active and consistent in their visits to the site, making them a promising audience for your marketing efforts.
- There are 1.9 billion mobile active users (MAU) (Source: Facebook as of 1/28/15) an increase of 26 percent year-over-year. Smart phones are not going anywhere. I would expect this statistic to continue to grow.
- Average time spent per Facebook visit is 20 minutes. (Source: Infodocket) What this means for you: You could have a short time period to make your impression, so use it wisely with relevant, interesting and unique posts and offers in order to get the most return on your efforts.
Advertising on Facebook can be done in many forms. You can buy likes for your practice page, boost your posts so that more people see them, do targeted print or video advertisements directly in the news feed or right column of Facebook.
We have found targeted newsfeed ads to be the most effective. I would not recommend buying likes for your practice. Boosting your posts can be effective at times. It depends on the post, the size of the market etc.
Search Engine Optimization
People in your area are searching online every day for help. They may be looking for how to find natural relief of their migraine headaches. They may be looking for an upper cervical chiropractor in their area. Or they may have been referred to your practice and are specifically searching for information about your office including online reviews. It is important that your website and online marketing strategy contains search engine optimization. But as we have written before search engine optimization isn’t enough. SEO whether it be on page or off page search engine optimization is an important part of a comprehensive strategy but in order for your online marketing to be effective it must be integrated with other approaches as well.
Social media is another important strategy for a comprehensive online marketing approach. We’ve already discussed the importance of Facebook in the form of ads. It is also important to be regularly posting to your Facebook business page for a number of reasons. Not sure what to post to Facebook? Follow the link. What about other social media networks? Here are the networks that we found to be the most important in order:
- Google plus
It would be good to have a presence on all 6 of these networks. Facebook for its pure numbers, YouTube because people love videos, Google plus because it helps your search engine optimization, twitter and LinkedIn because the good way to connect with professionals in your area. And Pinterest because 80% of the users are women. But if you had to choose just 3 to be active on I would pick Facebook, YouTube and Google plus.
Using video inside your practice and online is another excellent way to connect with prospective new patients, educate existing patients, improve your search engine optimization and more.
Creating original content is another crucial part of an online marketing strategy. Google has significantly changed their rules over the past few years to reward those who are regularly producing original content and ignore or even punish those who are producing duplicate content. Most chiropractic marketing companies are producing the same articles for all of their websites. These articles have little value to the doctor. When these articles are placed on your practice’s website they are marked as no index or they are duplicate of other articles that are on other websites. If they are marked as no index then Google doesn’t even know they’re there. Which means that unless someone specifically clicks on the link on your website with that article there is no way that they’re going to find it in a search engine. The other option is if there is a duplicate of that article and it is not marked as no index Google will once again ignore the content because it is duplicated or could even punish the website in the search rankings or even worse.
At www.uppercervicalmarketing.com we ONLY create original, search engine optimized, upper cervical specific articles. These types of articles are fantastic for improving search engine optimization, promoting through your social media networks, promoting to your current patients through newsletters and much more.
